Sommer Blomme

1-52pm

It was unexpectedly cloudy and cool in Cape Town this morning. The to-do list was a walk up the mountain, but the cloud was low and this meant that all the lookout points would be in misty conditions. We went out for breakfast with this as the view…

Breakfast view Ellies DeliAnd then regardless of the cloud, we went up to Silvermine Reservoir and began a bit of a walk….

Start of the walk over the Silvermine reservoir bridgeThe plan was that we would walk to the point looking out over Noordhoek and then come back down again. It was quite misty and when we got to the turnoff, I just kept walking and we ended up doing the whole circuit…

Map my fitness routeIt was very misty, which meant there were no distant views, but it was perfect  overcast weather to take photos of the fynbos…there is so much of it and an amazing variety…it is quite funny, because I have very little knowledge of what all these flowers and plants are, so they get referred to by colour…yellow…so todays photos become, ‘sommer blomme’  – which I think I am translating the slang ‘some’  as ‘just’ flowers or maybe even a version of ‘summer’ flowers…I am open to (Hanno’s) correction! 🙂  I’ll change it if it is supposed to be some other spelling!

A number of things struck me as we walked. So many times in the past, I have not taken photos of the flora because I’ve been so interested in the view…how high we are and how far we are. As a result I have missed all that is going on right in front of me.  With all the mist today, the flowers became a focal point. I was also wide-eyed at the variety…all so different, so beautiful and so unique….just like each of us. And, all made by God for OUR pleasure!

Luke 12:27 (Jesus speaking)…

“Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”

It was quite a magnificent display. We enjoyed the walk back down the mountain through the cloud…

Road through the cloud

And got back just before it rained.

I had put meat in the slow cooker and so our Sunday lunch was ready on our return. Now lunch is over, the Davis cup is on and in a short while, I’ll take my brother to the airport and he’ll head back to Johannesburg. Another fabulous weekend comes to an end.

Grand new week begins.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Gratitude Pic…there is my favourite photo of the morning…stark beauty in old age…
