Trouble with Truffles

3-18pm

My dear Truffles!

Truffles inspecting the newly painted roof

She has been a bit poorly of late. She has lost weight and she has been acting suspiciously. She has been strangely thirsty and very clingy. Most nights she sleeps very close to me. She has to have some contact, so she will sleep on my back if I’m lying on my stomach. If I roll over (and she falls off), she’ll climb on my hip and go back to sleep! And worst of all, she has been eating between a third and half of what she usually eats. Yesterday, I had lunch with good friends Trish and Bevan…

Trish has much experience with cats. When I told her I was worried about Truffs, she asked me a few questions and I found myself saying, ‘yes’ to all of them. Truffles is of the age now, where she could develop some kidney issues. She seemed to have all the right symptoms. Right there and then, I called the vet and made an appointment! This morning, Truffles skipped breakfast and snuggled up in my bed and stayed there until about 8-20am. Our appointment was at 8-40am. She went downstairs and was about to head out the window, when I grabbed her…”not so fast”….I put her in her box and off we went to the vet, with her meowing piteously…

VetThe vet examined her and tried to get some urine out of her, but Truffles wouldn’t co-operate. After hearing all her symptoms, she decided to keep her for blood tests, so that’s what she did. After 12, I received the call to say that the good news is that Truffles does NOT have kidney disease…that she can pick up anyway, but it seems she has a bit of a virus. She gave her a Vitamin B injection and de-flea’ed her and dewormed her. She was very happy to see me…and looked a lot brighter….

Truffles take me homeAs soon as we got home, I fed her and she almost ate all her food. Then she hopped over the wall and tried to rub the defleaing stuff off…

My brother comes this evening for the weekend, so I have a few activities planned.

This morning, I was reminded of Psalm 29:10-11

“The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever. The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace.”

What wonderful words. Sometimes in life things happen that are entirely out of your control – perhaps your house gets burgled or your car stolen; perhaps someone drive into your car or you get sick (or your cat does), or maybe the weather goes crazy and your home is flooded out. Things all around you may seem to be falling apart BUT GOD has not abandoned you. He has not lost control. He sits enthroned over the flood. He has His hand on all that is happening in your life. He is enthroned as King forever. You may not understand why things are going wrong or why God is allowing things to happen, but you keep trusting Him. He gives strength to His people and that’s YOU! Through all the trials of life, through all the storms and unexpected interruptions, not only will God give you strength but He will bless His people with strength.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
