Healthy Chocolate Recipe (from scratch)

Healthy Chocolate!

11-58

Dark chocolate has some great health benefits because the raw plant contains anti-oxidants. But you do need to choose the healthy chocolate instead of that which is laden with sugar, flavourants & other additives. My friend Peppi sent me a recipe that was sent to her for making chocolate from the raw ingredients. It’s not going to be more healthy than this.

It came from Rawlicious recipe book:

This is the healthiest chocolate I have ever eaten. I bought the ingredients the other day and yesterday Riana got stuck in and made organic, as low carb as you can get, healthy, dark chocolate.

Everything readyIngredients

200g cacao butter, melted
1/2 cup coconut oil, melted (about 85g)
1/2 cup agave or honey
2 cups cacao powder
seeds of 1 vanilla pod

Weighing the cacao butter – we made half the amount

Weighing the cocoa butterMelt cacao butter in double boiler, or over pot of water at low temperature…you don’t want to boil it – it will destroy the nutrients.

Heating the butterThen it looks like this…

Butter melted Add melted coconut oil, agave/honey and vanilla  and blend.

Adding other ingredientsSifting cacao powder…

CocoaBlend until everything is combined. Looking g-o-o-d…

Looking goodPour into  molds or ice trays…

In the mouldsRiana added some coconut to the left over chocolate and made some macaroons.

Thanks RianaShe followed the recipe to the ‘t’ and said she probably would have put in more honey. For me it’s great, although it’s very rich. It tastes like the 85% Lindt chocolate.

Chocs

Thanks to Riana for making them and taking all the photos!

This recipe this makes a lot of chocolate so  you may want start with half the amount.   Don’t over heat any ingredients or you will destroy the nutrients. Just warm enough.
