Everyday Goals

3-37pm

Gearing up for the next 25 years! There is a saying that goes, ‘I do today what others won’t, so I can do tomorrow what others can’t.’  It’s easy to be afraid of the future and to delay focusing on the distant future due to its uncertainty. I have decided to focus far. Let me be 75 right now and look back at what 50 looked like. As a 75 year old, what would I like to have done at 50 that will benefit me today, aged 75?  What can I do today that will benefit me in 25 years time? Everyday, I can try and do something that will benefit my future.

1. Spiritually

Pray! Read the Bible. Keep in touch with God. Meet with like-minded people. Spur one another on. I will be an ‘eternity thinker’. I’ll focus on what really matters.

2. Physically

Exercise. There is a line between doing too much and doing too little exercise. The idea is to find a happy middle road, where I keep active every day and exercise properly a few times a week. Stretch, walk, remain flexible, keep strong.

Rest. Get enough sleep, but be disciplined enough to get up and get moving!

Eat. Focus on what is healthy. The right food for the long haul. But don’t be ridiculous. Food is one of life’s big enjoyments. Treats are okay, as long as they are just that: treats – from time to time, not from hour to hour!

Drink. Water is the elixir of life. 8 glasses a day is good!

3. Socially.

I’ll love and appreciate my family. I will strive to keep the ‘royal’ commandment. James 2:8

If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right.

I’ll keep my friends and make new ones.

4. Mentally.

Make that brain work! Thank you Sporcle for many hours of tracing new neural pathways. Keep the Scrabble going. As for codewords…I will continue to love them..Last codewordWork. Whatever my hands find to do, do it with all my might.

Everyday, I will smile more than frown. I will laugh more than cry. I will be happy more than sad.

If I can achieve THESE goals, every day, what a happy life I will have.

Quite a challenge, but as a 75 year old, when I look back at 50 and have done all these things, I can imagine I’ll be healthy, fit, fabulous, friendly and happy!

I do today what others won’t, so I can do tomorrow what others can’t.

Keep the smile going!

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
